General Tactics
- You can zoom in and out! When deploying your units and using haywire/life-eater, you may want to be zoomed in, but for most of the battle, being zoomed out is optimal, as you can see what is going on all around the map at once.
- You can tell your units where to deploy before the battle starts, and beacon them to a specific node. If you do this, as soon as the battle starts, they will deploy and start moving.
- You can deploy your units to a specific place on the drop zone. For slow units or heroes, deploying them on the edge of the drop zone closest to their destination node will allow them to get there a few seconds sooner.
- All tactics that you deploy in skirmish have a delay before they take effect. Being able to anticipate what tactic you will need and deploying it beforehand will ensure it takes effect at the right time. For example, beacon your units away from a node you are capturing when the progress bar is around 80% (or sooner for slow units).
- When units move to attack enemy units on a node, the defender has a significant advantage. The defender can take the whole node, while the attacker is funneled into a narrow corridor on the bridge. This means the defender will have more units attacking simultaneously, and can take advantage of splash/area damage (e.g. from glaives or volkite weapons). The defending node may also provide a combat advantage (damage reduction, damage bonus or heal). If you are on the attack, you can reduce bottlenecking by splitting your army up first and attacking from multiple nodes, all converging on the enemy at the same time.
