Overpowering Your Opponent (Strength Strategy)

There are two main paths to victory if your army is stronger than your opponent's:

  1. Cut the map in two, taking the larger half of the map, and forcing your opponent to engage your army if they want to get to your half. Eventually your progress bar will fill up and you will win, or your opponent will attack you, going to their death.

Many maps have two of the four outside bridges damaged, one on each side. As a result of these damaged bridges, the map is naturally cut in half, with the center node being the only way to get from one half to the other.

Quickly take control of the center, then use one control group to take control of the rest of the nodes on your half of the map. Beware teleporting heroes who can circumvent your blockade.

If two outside bridges are damaged on the same side of the map, this strategy still works, but you need to defend two nodes (the center, and the outside edge across from the two damaged bridges). Whoever controls the center can easily take the isolated outside edge.

  2. Corner your opponent and engage them directly. You may need to attack multiple segments of their army to accomplish this. A common way of doing this is to force your opponent to one of the two far corners. As you do this, take the two outside corners adjacent to it and cut off any escape route.

While cornering/attacking your opponent, make sure they don't get too far ahead on the progress bar. If they have a few control groups zipping around, they can easily get 3 or 4 nodes ahead of you and it will be very hard to catch up.

Note: Even if your army is optimized for the strength strategy, outrunning your opponent may still be the better strategy. If you see your opponent clustering all his units together, attacking it may be deadly. And splitting up and taking 4 nodes immediately can quickly shift the match in your favour.

Tip: Archmagos tend to go too far foward and lead the rest of your army. Keep them on a separate control group and move them in after your other army units to keep them from getting on the frontlines.
