Prioritize Bases

Your map consists of three types of bases:

Player bases yield the most glory: 10 (+3 if the bonus objective is accomplished), while NPCs yield 5 (+2). However, it's important to understand that after taking a base on your map, it will be taken back, and when it is, you lose 5 glory. So after taking this into account, the net glory from a base assault is as follows:

  Without Bonus With Bonus
Player base 5 8
NPC base 0 2
Revenge 5 5

As you can see, player bases are much more valuable.

Revenges yield more than NPCs, but your opponent has an opportunity to revenge you back. If you get into a revenge war, you could end up doing lots of attacks for almost no glory. For this reason, revenge should usually only be done when your map is clear of player bases and NPCs.

At a lot of levels, player bases are more difficult than non-player bases. If you lose a lot of your army in an attack, you may not be strong enough to take any of the player bases on your map. This can be a good time to attack non-player bases so you can continue playing and earning glory, even if not at the highest rate. And if you can take NPC bases with minimal or no casualties, you will eventually have enough troops to take player bases again. This is especially true if you are using fast-rebuilding troops like jetbikes or tacticals.

Note: that when you attack player bases, they have an opportunity to take revenge. If they succeed, you will lose 5 glory. But most players will not take revenge. And many will fail if you have good defense. Also when players attack your base you have a chance to get Machine Spirit (if you kill half their army or more). So the potential for revenge is not a good reason to avoid player bases.
