Tactics Wargear (Purple)

Purple wargear is generally used to boost tactics and provide combat energy. Probably the overall best purple wargear is comms relay (extra energy every 6 seconds). Regardless of which tactics you use to attack a base, this gives you extra energy to be used as is most fitting for that base. And if you do the math, the extra energy from comms relay (assuming +2 or higher) is usually more than the saved energy from wargear that reduce the energy cost of certain tactics.

Sometimes, you get into a trap where your units are attacking the HQ and some turrets are still alive, but you can't beacon your units to attack the turrets because you've run out of energy. Comms relay can save you from this trap, since eventually, it'll provide you enough energy to beacon your units away from the HQ.

That being said, wargear that saves combat energy or increases damage for tactics does benefit you more early on in the battle, which is more valuable than energy later on. Likewise for wargear that makes haywire/dominate last longer.

Vox-caster (speed bonus when using beacon) is very valuable with glaives or for skirmish heroes.

The only purple wargear that benefits defensive heroes is divine texts (extra XP for successful combats). This is especially good since defensive heroes tend to take a long time to gain XP, making it hard to level them up.
